On Hamid's 6-day Toubkal circuit, mules carry main luggage between camps. You only carry a daypack (20–30L) each day. This changes the packing equation significantly — you can bring more comfort items than a typical alpine trek, but your daypack still needs to be light enough to climb with.
I've watched clients arrive with 25kg bags full of things they never used, and others arrive dangerously underprepared — no headlamp, cotton base layers, and canvas shoes for a 4,167m summit. Both extremes create problems.
This list is what I genuinely recommend based on 10+ years on this mountain — not a generic gear brand collaboration. The items marked ✦ are the ones that make the real difference.
As a local guide based in Imlil, I've seen every packing mistake in the book. The good news: you don't need expensive specialist gear. The right lightweight kit is all that stands between a comfortable summit and an exhausting one.

Required additions for November–March Toubkal attempts.
Essential above 3,000m from November–March. Non-negotiable.
Required for the summit approach in winter conditions.
Wind chill at the summit can reach -15°C to -20°C in January.
For overnight temperatures at the refuge (-10°C in winter).
One pair is never enough in winter. Wet gloves in freezing temperatures are dangerous.
Yes — basic trekking poles, sleeping bag liners, and fleece layers can be rented in Imlil village. However, quality varies. For footwear and base layers, bring your own to ensure proper fit and performance.
Aim for 6–9 kg maximum on summit day. On Hamid's 6-day circuit, mules carry main luggage between camps, so your daypack only needs water, snacks, camera, and an extra layer.
All main meals are provided on the 6-day Toubkal circuit — breakfast, lunch, and dinner at each camp. Bring personal snacks for summit day when extra energy makes a difference.
It's not legally required but is strongly recommended. Ensure your policy explicitly covers mountain rescue and high-altitude trekking above 4,000m. Check the small print — not all adventure policies cover this altitude.
All kit, transfers, meals and accommodation included in one private guided experience.
