Your Guide

Hamid Bouredda β€” Born in Imlil

I was born and raised in Imlil, just minutes from Mazzik village. I hold a Natural Landscape Tour Guide license (No. 1380, Marrakech–Safi Region) from the Moroccan Ministry of Tourism. This is not simply a place I bring visitors β€” it is part of my culture, my upbringing, and my identity.

When I take you here, I don't walk you through a location. I share with you a way of life that has been carried forward through generations β€” through the walls of this house, through the families who built it, and through the mountain itself.

A Home That Tells a Story

A Living Memory of the High Atlas

Raised around 1850 by Ibrahim Bouredda and shaped over the years by each generation that called it home, Amazigh Prestigia House carries something rare β€” the unbroken thread of a family's story across more than 170 years.

What makes this place exceptional is not its age alone, but what it has witnessed. Every carved doorway, every handmade wall, every worn stone threshold reflects the craftsmanship, ingenuity, and daily rhythm of an Amazigh family who never left their mountain.

↳ What you will experience here: walk through the house with your guide and feel the presence of the families who built it β€” room by room, story by story.

As you move through each floor with your guide, you begin to see how every space served a purpose β€” and how a family's entire world was contained within these walls.

Third Floor

The Terrace of the Sky

Two rooms and a terrace offering breathtaking views over Mazzik Village and the surrounding Atlas Mountains.

↳ What you will experience here: walk through each level with your guide and understand how families lived, cooked, rested, and looked out over their mountain from the terrace above.

Mazzik Village

Tucked into the folds of the High Atlas, Mazzik is not on the tourist map β€” and that is precisely what makes it remarkable. Roughly 250 years ago, a handful of Amazigh families chose this specific hillside: high enough for protection, close enough to water, fertile enough to sustain life.

The village did not arrive fully formed. It was tested and rebuilt by the forces of the mountain:

  • β€”The old village below was destroyed by rockfall and earthquakes
  • β€”A major flood in 1995 affected homes near the valley
  • β€”The current location provides safety, stability, and sustainability

Today, more than 600 people call Mazzik home β€” and yet, walking through its paths, you quickly sense that the spirit of the original founders has never left.

↳ What you will experience here: stroll through the village paths with your guide and hear the real story of how this community was built, lost, and rebuilt from the ground up.

Life in the Atlas

Simple. Sustainable. Deeply Connected.

There is no performance here. The rhythm of life in Mazzik follows the sun, the seasons, and the land β€” not a schedule designed for visitors.

Families cultivate their own food, tend to their animals, and pass knowledge across generations without interruption. What you witness here is not a recreation β€” it is the living present of a centuries-old culture.

"When I bring guests here, I see the moment they realize β€” this is not a show. This is someone's actual life."

↳ What you will experience here: observe daily mountain life as it truly unfolds β€” gardens, animals, tea, and conversations with people who have never needed to perform for a camera.

What exists here is something far more valuable β€” a functioning home in a living village, where the families who built it still wake up every morning inside its walls.
