The Atlas Mountains are approximately 60–70 km from Marrakech city centre. The drive to Imlil — the main trekking village — takes around 90 minutes by private vehicle, depending on traffic.
For day hikes in and around Imlil, a guide is not legally required, but is strongly recommended. Trails are not always clearly marked, conditions change rapidly with altitude, and a licensed local guide provides cultural access and safety that dramatically improves the experience.
Most of our guests have no trekking experience. The standard day hike involves 6–8 hours of walking at a relaxed pace with regular breaks. If you can walk for a full day, you can do this trip. Hamid adapts the pace and route to your group.
