5 Days Classic Sahara Desert Tour from Marrakech

Your private Sahara journey begins with pickup from your hotel or riad in Marrakech. The road climbs into the High Atlas Mountains through the famous Tizi n'Tichka Pass, with scenic views, Berber villages, and photo stops along the way. You continue to Ait Ben Haddou, one of Morocco's most iconic kasbahs and a UNESCO World Heritage site. After lunch, continue toward Ouarzazate, then through Skoura, the Valley of Roses, and traditional Berber villages before reaching the Dades Valley area for the night.

After breakfast, continue through the south of Morocco toward the Sahara. The route passes through valleys, palm groves, small towns, and desert landscapes. A major highlight is Todra Gorges, known for its impressive canyon walls and dramatic scenery. Later, the road continues toward Merzouga, close to the famous Erg Chebbi dunes. As the landscape changes, you begin to feel the arrival of the Sahara — open spaces, palm oases, and golden dunes in the distance.

Day 3 is dedicated to exploring the Merzouga region and its desert culture. You may visit Khamlia village, known for Gnawa music and cultural heritage. The day can also include local markets, oases, and panoramic viewpoints around the Erg Chebbi dunes. Later, prepare for the Sahara experience. Depending on the arrangement, you may enjoy a camel trek or desert transfer toward the dunes and desert camp area. The evening is for enjoying the desert atmosphere, dinner, traditional music, and the silence of the Sahara night.

Wake early to enjoy the sunrise over the Sahara dunes if weather and timing allow. After breakfast, the journey continues back west through desert landscapes, palm valleys, and traditional villages. The route may pass through Alnif, Tazzarine, Nkob, and the Draa Valley — showing another side of southern Morocco: wide desert roads, oases, date palms, dry mountains, and quiet villages. Arrive in the Ouarzazate area for the night.

After breakfast, begin the return journey to Marrakech. The road crosses the High Atlas Mountains again, offering spectacular views, mountain villages, and scenic stops along the way. You travel through the Tizi n'Tichka Pass before arriving back at your accommodation in Marrakech. This final day completes the classic Sahara loop — mountains, kasbahs, valleys, dunes, culture, and the road back to Marrakech.
